Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, accompanied by Minister of Youth, Haitham Al-Zahaf, inaugurated the first phase of the "Return of Life" beach resort project yesterday.
The launch began with the opening of the "Return of Life" resort in the Tajoura area, part of the government's plan to develop public beaches and transform them into modern tourism and recreational facilities.
Aldabaiba toured the resort, inspecting facilities that include 80 shaded beach cabanas equipped with lighting and electricity, as well as restaurants, an electronic games arcade, restrooms, changing rooms, and prayer areas. He emphasized the importance of providing fully equipped public beaches that offer a safe, comfortable environment for families and young people, while supporting domestic tourism and enhancing the quality of life.
The "Return of Life" beach project
The "Return of Life" beach project aims to establish modern public beaches as a national alternative to unregulated beach areas. The master plan allocates 60.2% of the site to the beach itself, 17% to recreational facilities, 11.4% to service facilities, and 11.4% to parking, ensuring optimal land use and the provision of comprehensive services for beachgoers.
Jobs for youth, stimulating sector, attracting local and foreign investment
The project serves as an economic and social asset by creating thousands of job opportunities for Libyan youth in tourism, hospitality, and support services. It stimulates the local economy, boosts tourism revenue, and attracts local and foreign investment in the tourism sector, while providing a safe, organized recreational space for young people and families.
The larger project entails the development of seven public beach resorts: two in Misrata, and one each in Tajoura, Qasr Al-Akhyar, Zuwara, Sabratha, and Al-Khoms.
These beach resorts feature comprehensive infrastructure—including sewage, water, and electricity networks, as well as water tanks and power generators—alongside service facilities such as a first-aid station, information desk, main storage area, cafés and restaurants, lifeguard towers, restrooms, prayer areas, and parking lots.
They also offer operational and recreational amenities, including wooden cabanas, beach umbrellas, seating and tables, floating platforms, children's play areas, and courts for beach soccer, volleyball, and tennis, thereby providing a complete and safe leisure environment for beachgoers.
