The Libyan Air Ambulance Service announced yesterday the commencement of international helicopter flights. Previously, it has been conducting ambulance flights using aeroplanes.
It said this comes as part of its efforts to develop its operational capabilities and enhance its response time to critical medical cases and considered it a significant step reflecting its high level of preparedness and professional competence.
The Air Ambulance Service said it had successfully completed its first international air ambulance mission by transporting a critically ill patient from Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport to Tunisia’a Sfax-Thyna Airport.
It said the flight was accomplished with full adherence to the highest aviation safety standards and approved medical protocols, under the supervision of a specialized medical and aircrew team, and with comprehensive support from the Operations Department and the technical and engineering teams.
Finally, the Air Ambulance Service said this achievement underscores its ability to execute complex missions both domestically and internationally and embodies the organized teamwork among its various departments. This ensures the provision of a rapid, safe, and effective air ambulance service when every second counts and human life is the top priority.
