The President of the General Libyan Union of Chambers of Commerce, Mohamed Al-Raied, participated with the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, headed by the Director of the Department of Asian and Australian Affairs at the Ministry’s Office, Al-Hassan Mohammed Rabiha, in an official visit to Vietnam from 9 to 12 September.
Activating signed agreements and the Libyan Vietnamese Joint Committee
Several meetings were held in the capital Hanoi with the Middle East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of International Cooperation at the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, activating the agreements signed between the two countries decades ago, and coordinating the revival and activation of the Libyan-Vietnamese Joint Committee to hold a meeting as soon as possible.
Meeting Vietnam Chamber of Commerce
Al-Raied, and accompanying delegation, held a meeting with the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam to discuss aspects of economic cooperation between the two countries.
Hanoi Fair, Ho Chi Minh Chamber
The delegation also visited the Hanoi Fair, which is one of the largest exhibitions in the region, to see the most important Vietnamese industries in various fields, visited the largest Vietnamese city, Ho Chi Minh, the commercial capital of the country, and visited its Chamber of Commerce.
The General Union of Chambers noted that this is the first official visit of a Libyan delegation to Vietnam in more than 15 years ‘‘to this successful and leading country in various fields, especially with regard to fisheries and agricultural products, where Vietnam’s exports of fisheries and agricultural products amount to more than 45 billion dollars annually, in addition to the automotive industry, tires, electrical cables and advanced steel industries’’.
