Libya announced a public tender round for oil and gas exploration yesterday – the first in seventeen years,

‎The official announcement was made at a grand ceremony in Tripoli by Acting Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Masoud Suleiman Mousa.

‎During a speech at the launch ceremony, in the presence of the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, the Acting Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdul Sadiq, Massoud stressed that more than two-thirds of the Libyan territory is waiting to explore the abundant bounties lurking in its interior.‎

‎New exploration brings regional development and jobs and activates the private sector
The Acting NOC Chairman pointed out that exploration in new areas does not only mean oil and gas production, but is a source of life in those areas and their development, which will contribute to supporting the private sector, which will participate in providing support services for exploration and drilling work, thus increasing national income, as well as providing large areas of new job opportunities for young Libyan job seekers. ‎
