The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Transport reported yesterday that it has signed an MoU with the UAE to lift restrictions on passenger air transport and air cargo between Libyan airports and the airports of the United Arab Emirates.
The MoU was signed yesterday on the sidelines of the Fourth ICAO Implementation Support Symposium (GISS25) and the Global Sustainable Aviation Market (GSAM) in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
The MoU was signed by the Libyan Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, and the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Stadium, Abdullah Al-Marri.
This event is hosted by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and organized in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Abu Dhabi during the period from 10 to 12 February 2025.
The Ministry of Transport said this memorandum comes within the framework of a series of memorandums of understanding concluded by Libya with other countries, such as Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Malta, Italy and Qatar, with the aim of reopening its airspace and enhancing cooperation in the aviation sector.
