The American Chamber of Commerce in Libya (AmCham Libya) informed Libya Herald today that it is organizing a delegation of U.S. companies active in the oil & gas sector for a trade mission to Tripoli from 2 to 3 July. AmCham had previously organised an American company trade mission in Tripoli in 2021, and this is a follow up on that event.

Libya’s commercial opportunities are significant
Debbie Hirst, President of AmCham Libya said, “Libya contains Africa’s largest oil reserves, and is investing significantly to maintain existing infrastructure, develop new production, and achieve environmental goals, including a reduction in gas flaring. US companies are admired and respected in Libya, and the commercial opportunities are significant.

The NOC approached us with a request to support their goal of attracting more U.S. companies to Libya, and we are happy to work with them to achieve this.”

Ahmed Ghazali, AmCham Libya Vice President said, “This event allows participating U.S. companies to interact with almost all of their potential customers in Libya in one place over a period of 2 days. We look forward to welcoming companies to Libya and supporting them in their commercial endeavours.”

The principal sponsors of the event are Caterpillar, Halliburton, Hill International and SLB (Schlumberger). It is expected that the participants will be a combination of companies already active in Libya, together with companies that are not active yet but are attracted by the potential business opportunities. The event will include a roundtable that will include the participation of high-level management from many of the NOC subsidiaries.

One day of the event will be dedicated to engagement with the NOC and one day will be open to the public in order to allow for private companies active in the Libyan oil sector to discuss collaborations with the visiting U.S. companies.
