Alaa El-Din Baba, Director of Marketing and International Relations at the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), revealed in an exclusive statement to Libya Herald that MFZ is preparing to host an international economic forum under the slogan “Misrata Free Zone… Africa’s Gateway for Italian Companies.”

The forum will be held in Rome on July 9th, with broad participation from economic institutions, investors, businesspeople, and decision-makers from Libya and Italy.

Baba explained that the forum is part of the MFZ’s strategy to expand its international presence and enhance economic cooperation with European markets. He emphasized that the event represents an important opportunity to showcase the investment potential of MFZ, highlighting its competitive business environment, advanced infrastructure, and strategic commercial port, which qualifies it to be a launching point for Libyan and African markets.

He added that the forum will focus on showcasing investment and partnership opportunities in the industrial, logistics, trade, and supply chain sectors, contributing to attracting quality investments, transferring expertise, and boosting trade between the two countries.

Baba noted that MFZ is working to solidify its position as a regional business and investment hub, leveraging its strategic geographic location connecting Europe and Africa. He emphasized that the forum reflects the zone's vision of building sustainable economic partnerships with the Italian private sector and opening new horizons for companies seeking to expand into African markets through Libya.

He affirmed that the MFZ's management anticipates the forum will contribute to strengthening confidence in the Libyan economy and highlighting the promising opportunities the Free Zone offers investors, thereby supporting economic diversification efforts and enhancing Misrata's standing as a regional logistics and investment hub.
