The Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS) reported that it had held a meeting last Thursday (23 May) with the Italian San Donato Group of Hospitals to start work on the project of establishing a Libyan-Italian smart hospital.
Hospital to be connected to Italian medical call centre
The meeting dealt with the development of a construction plan for the project of building a hospital with integrated scientific medical specifications connected to a medical call centre in Italy that operates according to international standards.
Quick diagnosis
This, the DSDMS explained, is to facilitate patients with the necessary diagnosis and health care as quickly as possible, which relieves them of the inconvenience of travel and high costs.
San Donato tour of Libyan health centres
It will be recalled, and as reported at the time by Libya Herald, that in December 2023, a medical team from the San Donato Group had visited Libya to tour hospitals and medical and health centres, to assess the level of medical services and work to localise medical treatment at home.
Localising treatment within Libya policy
This technical visit, the DSDMS reminded, comes to reinforce its, and the government’s, plans to localise treatment within Libya, saving money, time and the effort of inconvenience through travel abroad.
