Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) signed a cooperation agreement with the Western Sicily Port System Authority and the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce. The authority is Sicily’s largest and one of Italy’s leading port operators, overseeing seven ports, including Palermo, Italy’s fourth largest.
MFZ said Italy is one of Libya’s main trading partners and a key source of goods for the Libyan market, with shipping lines linking the two countries. Closer cooperation between port and business institutions on both sides will help boost trade and make supply chains more efficient.
It said the agreement sets up joint working teams to oversee projects aimed at developing port and logistics operations, improving services, cutting handling and shipping costs, and making services more competitive for customers and traders.
MFZ added that the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce will serve as an official channel of communication between the two sides, helping coordinate efforts, track progress, and turn opportunities into real projects.
