The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock held an expanded meeting last Tuesday (20 February) to discuss the mechanism for launching the implementation of the Ministry of Planning’s initiative to plant 100 million seedlings throughout the country.

The meeting was held at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters and was the first meeting regarding the implementation of the Ministry of Planning’s initiative to plant 100 million fruit and forest seedlings in various parts of Libya and at over 60 different sites.

The Ministry confirmed that implementation will begin as of next month.

Several recommendations were agreed at the meeting, including paying attention and accelerating implementation, preparing equipment, machinery, and seedlings, and exploiting this season, which is ending.

The initiative, the Ministry said, will contribute significantly to developing vegetation, achieving sustainable development, food security and preserve the climate.
