Libya’s Airports Authority held a meeting last Monday at its Tripoli headquarters, attended by the head of the authority, his Assistant, the Director of the Planning and Organization Department, and the Director of the Relations and Cooperation Office, with officials representing Malta’s Corinthia Group. Corinthia specializes in the field of hotels and catering services and operates the Corinthia (Bab Africa/Africa Gate) hotel in Tripoli.

Corinthia to invest in Libyan airport catering facilities
During the meeting, the possibility of the Corinthia Group contributing to investing in Libyan airports was discussed by establishing and operating catering facilities on the airside, through which it can provide its services to air transport companies at those airports.

Ready to offer EU standard services
The group’s representatives explained their technical capabilities and great experience in the field of aviation catering services in Malta in accordance with the highest standards of quality and food safety followed in the European Union countries. They also expressed their desire to provide services that meet the needs of the Libyan market by following the latest methods and using modern technologies that guarantee high productivity and provide a healthy and safe environment.

MoU and feasibility study to be prepared
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to prepare a memorandum of understanding between the Authority and Corinthia through which a feasibility study of the project would begin. This would include the airports in which investment is intended, the areas on which catering facilities are planned to be established and developed, the total cost required for the project, and the percentage of investment returns for both the Authority and the Group.
