London, 15 September 2021:

Libya’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, Ahmed Abuhisa, discussed with Italian Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, at the Ministry’s Tripoli office yesterday joint industrial cooperation.

The meeting dealt with ways to support and activate the joint industrial cooperation between the two countries and the importance of finding effective solutions to restart the Tajura truck and bus factory.

The Minister said that the ministry is determined to solve the problems of the Tajura Trucks and Buses Company and operate its factories at maximum capacities in cooperation with the Italian partner (IVECO), stressing the importance of the partner’s role in providing production requirements and spare parts necessary for the return of work.

Training

During the meeting, the Minister also requested the Italian side to train and qualify a group of Libyan youth in the field of industrial technology.

Major Italian companies to visit soon

For his part, the Ministry reported that the Italian ambassador said that Italy attaches great importance to Libya, especially in the field of industrial cooperation, stressing the visit of a delegation of major Italian companies to Libya soon.

The ministry said that the Trucks and Buses Company is one of the joint industrial investments between Libya and Italy, which provides a basic commodity targeting the Libyan market as well as the African market, and is considered a key factor in the country’s plans and programmes for reconstruction.
