Tunis, 22 July 2017:
Libyan National Army (LNA) jets launched fresh airstrikes on Derna this afternoon targeting strategic sites and members of the in the Mujahedeen Shoura Council which controls the town.
The first at shortly after midday hit the Fatayah area to the south-east of the town. The Omar Mukhtar Operations Room, which is leading the LNA’s fight for Derna, said it had targeted a former plastics factory where shoura council members were apparently meeting. The other strike, some three hours later, hit the same area. Casualties, if any, are unknown.
It comes amid rumours that LNA chief Khalifa Hafter has decided that negotiations with the mujahideen may be more productive than fighting them.
