Tunis, 22 July 2017:
Khalifa Hafter has again flown to Egypt to attend the opening of a new military base in the north west of the country.
Located in Al-Hammam, not far from Alexandria, the new Mohamed Nagib military base has been described by Egyptian state media as the largest of its kind in the Middle East. According to reports in Egypt, the base will also, among other things, be the centre of operations dealing with Libya, both in terms of planning and in training Libyan military personnel.
Egypt’s President Fateh El-Sisi presided over the ceremony along with many of his military leaders.
Also attending was Abu Dhabi’s crown prince and UAE armed forces supreme commander Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. He has actively supported Hafter and earlier this month again held talks with him in Abu Dhabi about further boosting collaboration.
