Tripoli, 1 January 2014:
Work continues to reverse the ravages of summer forest fires in the Jebel Al-Akhdar which . . .[restrict]saw many thousands of trees destroyed.
Today the undersecretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Saleh Mahgoub led locals from in and around Emsalata in the planting of replacement trees, including olives on some of the devastated slopes near the town.
The work was a continuation of the campaign which began in the aftermath of the forest fires last May, which were extinguished with the help of Italian fire-fighting aircraft. This programme, “ “For Every Burnt Tree, Plant Ten”, was organised by the local Culture and Civil Society Office with the support of local Congress member Hammed Muammar Erwaimi and the local council.
