Tripoli, 31 December 2013:

As communal tensions rise in Kufra, Benghazi University has suspended the operations of its Kufra extension.  . . .[restrict]A senior source in the university in the city confirmed to the Libya Herald that the university had effectively been closed for the past fortnight, after rising tensions and confrontations on the campus.

He said that there had been minor damage to the college cafeteria and the administration block but he denied reports that there had been more extensive damage to the university.

He said he did not know how long it would be before the campus reopened. [/restrict]
