Tripoli, 21 September 2014:

Patients and staff were evacuated today from Zahra hospital after it came under sustained attack from . . .[restrict]Libya Dawn forces with at least ten missiles or shells striking it.

A deputy commander from the Warshefana militia told the Libya Herald that patients had been moved to Zintan hospitals, as fierce fighting continued.

He did not mention the location of the leader of the Libyan Revolutionaries Operation Room (LROR), Shaaban Hadia Al-Zawi, better known as Abu Obeida, who was captured during fighting six days ago.

Obeida had been taken to Zahra hospital for treatment for serious injuries. Likewise, the  body of  another Libya Dawn leader, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Kilani, the controversial Islamist congressman from Zawia,  killed the same day  that Obeida was captured, is believed the have been moved from the hospital morgue.

The Warshefana deputy commander said that though his militia’s men were outnumbered `’ten to one” by the forces from Janzour and Misrata that were attacking them, they were holding out.

He was however bitter about the lack of the promised help, from the government and the army.  “Our children are dying in their beds, but we are getting nothing from the authorities” he said. Zintan and Tarhuna had, he added, sent some support.

He alleged that whole families were being kidnapped by Libya Dawn and held as hostages.

There were widespread shortages in the Warshefana area, with no bread and most shops closed. “No one is going out because snipers are targeting anyone moving on the streets” he said.

This evening there were unconfirmed reports that Warshefana militiamen had captured another, as yet unnamed, senior Libya Dawn commander.
