In a statement to CNN Business, Abdel-Fattah Ghaffar, Chairman of the Libyan Long-Term Investment Portfolio (LTP), a subsidiary of Libya’s main sovereign fund entity, the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) revealed that the LTP’s assets and investments are valued at approximately US$ 13 billion, with profits reaching nearly US$ 1.25 billion last year.
Ghaffar said: "In 2025, we managed to deploy a portion of the portfolio's funds—specifically those held in Germany—and despite the (UN Security Council’s) asset freeze, the portfolio generated US$ 1.25 billion in profits last year."
He added: "We are awaiting United Nations approval to deploy our funds held at HSBC and Euroclear; if successful, we will achieve even greater results in 2027."
