Benghazi Chamber of Commerce participates in Cairo international event on Blue Economy

Benghazi Chamber of Commerce announced yesterday that its General Advisor, Prof. Boubacar Al-Mabrouk Boubacar, along with the Coordinator of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Division, Khaled Mohamed Al-Sakloul, participated in an international event held in Cairo, Egypt, organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in cooperation with the Federation of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), under the title:

“Better Earth: East-West Partnership – Public-Private Partnership in Sustainable Marine Development”.

The Chamber reported that the event witnessed the participation of policymakers, business leaders and international experts, where attendees discussed ways to promote sustainable maritime development through effective partnerships between the public and private sectors. This was with a focus on the ports, fisheries, tourism, green shipping, and artificial intelligence applications, to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Building on conclusions of previous meetings
Building on the conclusions of the Third Parliamentary Economic Forum of PAM in Marrakech, and the ASCAME initiatives, the “Development of the Blue Economy” event, which was recently announced during the General Assembly meeting in Barcelona, served as a platform to promote dialogue between institutions and the private sector, to ensure that the blue economy becomes an engine of inclusive and equitable development in the countries of the region.

Benghazi Chamber said this participation comes within the framework of its support for blue economy initiatives and the enhancement of regional and international cooperation in a way that contributes to the development of vital economic sectors.
