Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba inaugurated the 6th African Construction and Equipment Exhibition (2 to 5 May), yesterday, hosted at the Misrata International Fairgrounds, with wide participation from local and international companies specializing in construction, contracting, and equipment.
The event is organized in cooperation between the Misrata Chamber of Commerce and its counterpart, the Sfax Chamber of Commerce, as part of efforts to strengthen economic partnerships and expand cooperation in the building and construction sector.
The exhibition features more than 70 Libyan companies, along with over 25 companies from Tunisia, as well as companies from Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Ghana, and China. This reflects the expansion of partnerships and the growing regional and international interest in Libya’s construction sector, the government said.
In his opening remarks, Aldabaiba affirmed his government’s support for plans to develop the construction sector, emphasizing that this sector is a key driver of development and reconstruction efforts in the country, contributing to the growth of the national economy.
Following the opening, the Prime Minister toured the exhibition pavilions, where he was briefed on the latest technologies and solutions in the fields of construction, finishing materials and infrastructure, and listened to presentations from company representatives about their projects and opportunities for cooperation within the Libyan market.
In an exclusive statement to Libya Herald, Abubakr Shanab, Director General of the Misrata Chamber of Commerce, said: “This exhibition represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen communication between Libyan companies and their international counterparts, opening new horizons for investment and the transfer of expertise in the construction sector, especially given the growing need for reconstruction and development projects in Libya.”
Shanab added that the exhibition will include several accompanying events, including a specialized economic forum and business-to-business (B2B) meetings between companies, aimed at supporting partnership opportunities and the exchange of expertise.
He emphasized that the event reflects Misrata Chamber’s commitment to supporting the private sector and stimulating economic activity.
