MedSky confirms start of direct Dusseldorf flights from 17 May

Privately owned Libyan airliner, MedSky, confirmed yesterday the start of their direct flights to and from Düsseldorf airport starting on 17 May.

This comes after Dusseldorf airport had listed the flights earlier this month and as reported by Libya Herald on 6 April.

Commenting on the news on his social media page, MedSky CEO Seraj Elfaituri said yesterday: ‘‘After more than a decade and since 2014, direct flights between Libya and Germany are now returning. A long-awaited return that brings with it hope, connectivity, and the beginning of a new phase of opening up to Europe.‎

After the success of our departure to Madrid, we are proud to announce the launch of our new route to Düsseldorf – Germany, starting from Sunday 17 May, with two flights per week (Sunday and Friday).‎

This return is not ordinary. It is historic.‎ This line is not just a flight, but a real reconnection between Libya and one of the most important economic centers in Europe, after years of suspension and interruption, Düsseldorf is a strategic destination‎.

‎It is a vibrant city, a hub for business and investment, and an important destination for the Libyan and Arab community, making it a hub for travel, treatment, study, and trade.‎

Our continuous vision, our pledge was not just to operate the flights, rather, we have redrawn our presence in the European skies, with a steady pace and a clear vision towards leadership.‎

With the return of Libya to the European aviation map with confidence, congratulations to the Medsky family’’.‎

It will be recalled that MedSky started its direct flights to and from Madrid on 21 April. The MedSky CEO has also forecast a launch of flights to London soon.
