The Libyan Business Council (LBC) and Libya’s Planning Institute organised at the LBC's Tripoli headquarters today a debate entitled "The Startup Ecosystem and Venture Investment: Engines of Economic Growth", as part of efforts to enhance awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship and its role in supporting the national economy.
Ms. Sumaya Al-Majdoub opened the dialogue, welcoming the attendees, and stressing the importance of these scientific events in spreading the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and strengthening the partnership between academic institutions and the private sector in a way that contributes to supporting economic development.
During his presentation, Mr. Riad Khalil addressed the themes of the dialogue, reviewing the concept of startups and venture capital, their role in stimulating economic growth, in addition to the most prominent challenges facing the entrepreneurship system in Libya, and ways to develop the environment that supports startups.
The LBC stated that the workshop also reviewed a number of successful international experiences in building integrated systems that link private capital with innovative projects and create a supportive environment for growth and innovation.
The debate witnessed the presence of several researchers and those interested in the fields of entrepreneurship and investment and concluded with fruitful discussions and an exchange of views on mechanisms to support startups and enhance the investment and innovation environment, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable economic development.
