The British Embassy in Tripoli reported yesterday that from 13 to 16 October the UK Defence Medical Services successfully delivered the third and final phase of its Short-Term Training Team (STTT) programme in Libya — in partnership with the Libyan Military Medical Corps.
The training entailed:
- Phase 1 (28–31 October): Training of 24 Libyan Military Medical Corps practitioners in UK-standard Team Medic skills.
- Phase 2 (21–24 April): Developing the same cohort into Team Medic facilitators through a Train the Trainer package.
- Phase 3 (13–16 October): The top 9 graduates delivered a full Team Medic course to 70 Libyan Armed Forces personnel in Tripoli – a huge step toward sustainable, indigenous capability.
This training programme followed a medical delegation to the UK to visit Defence Medical Services and Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall in September showcasing the exceptional work of UK Defence Medical Services.
The Embassy said its hopes this is the beginning of an ever-stronger British Libyan bilateral partnership focused on building capacity and indigenous capabilities for Libya in areas that matter most.
