The Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel Sadig, said Libya aims to increase production to 1.6 million barrels by the end of 2026.

Abdel Sadig was speaking to the CNBC Arabia channel last Friday (17 October) on the back of holding and participating in several meetings in Washington DC as part of a large Tripoli Libyan government delegation holding meetings on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank held in Washington, D.C. (13 to 18 October).

The oil and gas Minister said Libya’s gas production currently stands at 2.5 billion cubic feet per day, and gas exports to Italy currently total approximately 200,000 cubic feet.

Abdel Sadig also revealed that consultations and agreements have been made with American ExxonMobil and Chevron on exploration and oil production, without giving any further details.
