Akakus Oil Operations aims to increase production to approximately 355,000 bpd by mid-2027
The news came during yesterday's 2026 technical and financial meeting between Akakus and the National Oil Corporation (NOC), held at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli,
The meeting discussed operational and financial performance results and proposed strategic plans for the coming period.
Participants commended the company's teams for their rapid response and the efficiency of the measures taken to control the fire on the main 30-inch export pipeline last March, which ensured the safety of operations and the continuity of exports.
The meeting addressed the operational performance of the Sharara field, which achieved outstanding production levels, peaking at approximately 335,000 barrels per day in August 2026.
The meeting concluded with an agreement on a set of strategic priorities for the coming year.
These priorities include organizing two workshops bringing together the corporation, its partners, and the operator to discuss development plans for the (S) field and development drilling programmes for 2027.
Other priorities include enhancing production sustainability and maintaining operational performance levels, expediting the implementation of urgent safety and fire suppression systems, proceeding with the Sharara field's reservoir development plan and upgrading its surface equipment, and completing approved maintenance work within allocated budgets.
The meeting was attended by the directors of the technical and financial departments, advisors and specialists on behalf of the NOC.
The chairman and members of the management committee, directors of the technical departments and specialists on behalf of Akakus Company were present.
There were also the representatives of the foreign partners from the companies Repsol of Spain, Total of France, OMV of Austria and Equinor of Norway.
