Tripoli, 22 June 2017:
In the latest of his fact-finding visits to oil fields, National Oil Corporation (NOC) chairman Mustafa Sanalla has been to the Sharara field.
The NOC chief wanted to know how and when production could be boosted so that he can hit his one million barrels a day output target by August. The Sharara field was yielding between 340,000 and 400,000 bpd of light, sweet crude before the Revolution and, according to the Libyan Oil Almanac, accounted for a quarter of all Libyan production.
Local managers from Akakus Oil which operates the field gave Sanalla a list of what they needed and he promised to do what he could within NOC’s straitened financial circumstances.
Sanalla was briefed on health and safety and also security, visiting the barracks for the field’s security detail commanded by Brigadier General Ahmed Adel.
