A meeting was held last Wednesday (6 May) at the headquarters of the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association (EBA) in Cairo, between the Libyan-Egyptian Council for Economic Cooperation, represented by a member of the Libyan Business Council (LBC), and the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Libyan-Egyptian Council and the Chairman of the Association, along with several members from both sides.
The LBC said the meeting was held within the framework of strengthening economic and trade relations between Libya and Egypt at the private sector level and exploring ways to develop cooperation to serve the interests of the private sector in both countries.
Egyptian products fair to be held in Tripoli soon
The two sides focused on the ongoing arrangements for organizing a large exhibition of Egyptian products in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, soon. This exhibition is expected to be an important platform for showcasing Egyptian industrial capabilities and enhancing the presence of Egyptian companies in the Libyan market, in addition to providing ample opportunities for establishing direct partnerships between businesspeople from both countries.
Opportunity for Egyptian companies to expand in Libya and Sub-Saharan Africa
The EBA said the Tripoli Egyptian products fair provides a new opportunity and platform for Egyptian businessmen to expand in the Libyan market. It also opens new markets building strategic partnerships inside Libya and from there to sub-Saharan Africa.
The EBA identified and reviewed promising investment opportunities in various sectors, on top of which are:
– Contracting & Infrastructure
- Industry & Manufacturing
- Agriculture and Food Industries
- Medical Sector and Medical Tourism
It was also announced that preparations are being made to hold the Egyptian Industries Exhibition in Tripoli, which represents a real platform to open new markets and build strategic partnerships inside Libya and from there to Africa
The Egyptian side stated that the Tripoli fair offers key opportunities for Egyptian companies to:
- Establish an Egyptian Industrial Zone in Libya
- Distinctive investment incentives (exemptions under Libya’s Investment Law, facilities, low-cost Libyan energy)
- Export Opportunities for Huge African Markets
- Integrated banking and logistical support
This would allow Egyptian companies to expand externally, build strong partnerships and capitalise a promising and fast-growing Libyan and Sub-Saharan market.
