Libya and Japan discussed strengthening development cooperation.
The discussions came during the meeting hosted by Ashraf Al-Tayeb, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, last Tuesday (2 September), with Masaki Amadera, Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Japan to Libya.
The meeting discussed strengthening development cooperation relations between Libya and Japan and prospects for bilateral partnership in this field, serving the common interests of the two friendly countries.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
In this context, the Ministry reported, programmes and projects of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) were discussed, considering them among the most prominent tools of cooperation and support implemented by Japan in partnership with Libya in various aspects of development, particularly in the areas of technical expertise exchange, training, qualification, and capacity building.
The Ministry said it emphasized the importance of activating priority areas of cooperation, particularly those related to DNA and information security, to meet Libya’s needs at this stage and contribute to supporting development efforts.
The two sides also emphasized the need to continue consultation and coordination to strengthen technical and development cooperation relations between the two countries.
