The UNDP Libya reported last Wednesday that ‘‘21 talented graduates, including 7 women, have successfully completed on-the-job trainings at Toyota dealers in Tripoli, Benghazi, Misrata, Zliten and Al Bayda’’.

The UNDP said this comes as part of the UNDP–Toyota training initiative aimed at increasing the graduates’ chances of being employed or starting their own businesses.

A graduation ceremony was held to celebrate the occasion with the presence of the European Union, the Ministry of Local Government, the Embassy of Japan, the UNDP and the hosts Toyota.

The UNDP reported that since 2018, 136 young graduates, 30 percent women and 27 percent IDPs, have benefited from the initiative through three-month car maintenance trainings, online customer care courses, and the on-the-job trainings at Toyota dealers. As a result, many of them have found jobs in either the private sector or started their own businesses after graduating.

This initiative, The UNDP further reported, is part of its Local Peacebuilding and Resilience efforts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and with funding from the European Union Africa Trust Fund, to boost economic development and job creation for youth.
