The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Interior issued a statement yesterday regarding the attempted targeting of the UN mission headquarters in Tripoli.

It stated that its police and security personnel were able to thwart a failed attempt to target the UN Mission’s Tripoli headquarters with an SPG rocket, which struck a house in the Janzour municipality without causing any damage.

The Ministry explained that a 2003 Toyota Camry was seized, and two additional rockets were found inside, in addition to the launcher used for the rocket. The Ministry confirmed that the competent authorities are working to identify the accused and are currently conducting investigations and gathering the necessary information to arrest them and bring them to justice.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring security, protecting public and private property, and securing the headquarters of international missions and embassies. It emphasized that it will not tolerate criminals and outlaws, and that it carries out its duties with utmost professionalism and skill, ensuring the promotion of security and stability and preventing any violations.
