The first batch of Libyan oil arrived at Georgia’s Kulevi oil refinery on 28 August, Russia’s TASS news agency reported yesterday.
The refinery, as reported by Libya Herald, stopped processing Russian oil and switched to oil from Kazakhstan and Libya.
Black Sea Petroleum (BSP), the owner of the Kulevi oil refinery, said on 31 July that it planned to cease processing Russian oil starting from August and was expecting new batches of oil from Kazakhstan and Libya.
The Kulevi oil refinery was put on the European Union’s 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions. The sanctions would come into effect on 25 January 2027 if the facility continued processing Russian oil.
