Misrata Chamber of Commerce announced today that it will be hosting an Iranian trade delegation at its headquarters on 8 May. No further details were provided about the size or specialisation of the delegation.
It will be recalled that in November 2023, Libya’s Tripoli based Minister of Housing and Construction, Abu Baker Al-Ghawi, discussed with Iran’s Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Iran to Libya, Ain Allah Souri, the supply of Iranian building materials products in line with the needs of the Libyan market, the participation of Iranian companies in the Libya exhibition, as well as inviting Iranian companies to participate in reconstruction and development projects within the Tripoli government’s Restoration of Life plan.
Al-Ghawi had also confirmed the position of the Tripoli based Libyan government expressed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation regarding the resumption of the Libyan Iranian Joint Committee holding its meetings, developing cooperation in the health and technical field, encouraging exports and cooperation in the industrial field, and exchanging official visits.
In July 2023 the Iranian shipping line IRISL resumed its service to the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) through its local shipping agent, the Germa Shipping Agencies Company. MFZ had said it hoped this new shipping line would contribute to increasing transit trade.
