Libya’s Airports Authority reported yesterday that Britain’s Birdstrike Management company participated in a technical presentation to enhance air safety at airports.‎

‎The presentation was made in conjunction with the Libyan Academy of Aviation Sciences in cooperation with the Libyan Bird Association.‎

‎Reduce risks of birds and stray animals threatening air traffic safety
During the presentation, the Executive Director of the Libyan Academy of Aviation Sciences gave a presentation on the most prominent innovative solutions to reduce the risks of migratory birds and stray animals that threaten the safety of air traffic.‎

‎The session was attended by the Assistant Head of the Airports Authority, the Director of the Standards Conformity Department, the Chairman of the Tenders Committee, in addition to the heads of the Safety and Risk Section at the Authority and Mitiga Airport.‎

‎Highlighting modern solutions to repel birds
The Airports Authority said this initiative comes in response to the increasing challenges faced by Libyan airports due to the presence of birds and animals near air traffic, which poses a threat to the safety of operations. The session aimed to highlight modern technologies including smart monitoring systems using advanced radars, in addition to innovative audio and visual solutions to repel birds without harming the environment.‎

‎In accordance with national and international standards
The President of the Libyan Bird Association also explained the movement of migratory birds, their types, and seasons of presence, to develop a mechanism to combat them in accordance with national and international standards.‎

‎In his opening speech, the Assistant Chairman of the Airports Authority stressed that “communicating with specialized local and international bodies is a necessary step to implement international safety standards.” He also stressed the importance of building an integrated system that includes training and qualification of cadres at airports, in addition to providing the necessary technological infrastructure, and developing sustainable solutions by qualifying expertise in this field.‎

‎The Airports Authority said these efforts come as part of the gradual application of modern technologies to all its affiliated airports, to ensure the safe operation of air traffic.‎

‎The initiative also reflects its commitment to improving safety standards and creating a safe and sustainable operating environment, which enhances passenger confidence and ensures their safety during their journeys.‎
