Julyana Free Zone will receive 60 commercial and oil vessels in February 2025, the Director of the Handling and Storage Office, Sharif Aoun, explained in a statement to the newspaper “Libyan News”, according to the official state news agency LANA yesterday.
This follows on from the increased traffic reported for January.
Gas and fuel tankers
He said the movement of commercial and oil ships in the past month was active, as 6 tankers loaded with diesel fuel, 5 tankers loaded with gasoline fuel, two tankers loaded with cooking gas, in addition to one tanker loaded with aviation fuel, docked on the oil pier.
The port’s berths also received 47 commercial ships, including 23 container ships, 6 ships loaded with equipment for the benefit of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, as well as 5 ships loaded with bulk cement, 4 ships loaded with grain, 4 ships carrying asphalt, 3 ships loaded with cars, and one ship loaded with sugar bags.
During the month, round-the-clock shifts continued, with many goods, especially foodstuffs, flowing to meet the needs of the local market as the holy month of Ramadan approached.
The Free Zone Administration, the Customs Administration and the Food Control Centre cooperated in facilitating and speeding up the procedures without any significant disruption, the Free Zone official was quoted as saying.
