Tripoli’s Transport Minister receives Italian Civil Aviation head – ITA flights to resume ‘‘soon’’

Transport Ministry meets Japanese company North Star interested in investing in Libya

The Tripoli based Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, received yesterday in his office the Ambassador of Italy, Gianluca Alberini, the President of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, the Director of the Italian Airlines Company ITA, and the Commercial Attaché at the Italian Embassy.

At the meeting it was revealed that ITA flights to Tripoli will resume ‘‘soon’’.

​​Minister Shahoubi praised the development of Libyan-Italian relations in all fields. He reviewed the steps taken regarding the arrangements between the Italian Civil Aviation Authority and the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority for Italian Airlines (ITA) to resume its flights between the two countries.

The head of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry reported, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between the two parties regarding the acceleration of the operation of the ITA flights.

The Italian Ambassador also thanked the Minister and the Libyan side for the cooperation in developing the Libyan-Italian relations, especially the efforts made by the two parties to restore air traffic between the two countries.

The director of the ITA also spoke about the arrangements being coordinated between the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority and the Italian Civil Aviation Authority regarding the resumption of ITA flights, the date of which will be determined soon.

Present at the meeting were also Khaled Swesi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Air Transport Affairs, Wissam Al-Idrisi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Diwan and Maritime Transport Affairs, Undersecretary of Land Transport,  and Fadlallah Al-Shalawi, Head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed Shalibek.
