The Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Hussein Al-Gatrani, discussed with the Director of the World Food Programme in Libya, Maysa Al-Magherbi, the stages of the WFP’s development in the agricultural and livestock sector in the country.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters today, discussed ways to help farmers by providing seeds, fertilizers, equipment, and pesticides, to ensure food security in Libya.
Al-Gatrani affirmed the government’s support to overcome all difficulties and obstacles for the success of the WFP’s programme and its implementation in all regions of Libya.
4,000 Fezzan farmers surveyed for consideration for receiving aid
The Ministry revealed that the first project of WFP was launched in the Fezzan region, which included five municipalities. During this, 4,000 farmers were counted and their data on agricultural crops, soil, water, and the problems and difficulties facing them were collected, in preparation for helping them in cooperation with the Ministry.
