Libya’s Deputy Prime Minister – Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, discussed last Monday with the official in charge of the health sector at the World Bank, Jean Pablo, and a number of consultants, a number of health files, at the bank’s headquarters in Washington, DC.
During the meeting, the Health Ministry reported, the main challenges of health financing in Libya were discussed, as well as best practices in the field of strategic procurement.
The discussions also dealt with the mechanisms for developing the health sector in Libya, the health financing action plan, as well as the development of human resources and the enhancement of food security in Libya.
The meeting discussed supporting the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance project in various municipalities, as well as cooperation in primary care programmes and family health development.
The Health Ministry reported that the Minister appreciated the cooperation of the World Bank with the Libyan Ministry of Health in a package of development projects in the medical field, with the aim of supporting and improving health care programmes provided to citizens.
For his part, the World Bank health official, the Ministry reported, affirmed the World Bank’s support for Libya, praising the role played by the Ministry of Health to find permanent solutions to improve the health sector.
