Tripoli, 1 November 2021:

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the SME conference (1-4 November) at Tripoli Sports City today, Economy and Trade Minister Mohamed Hwej said that it was time for action when it came to the SME sector. He admitted that Libya had been here before regarding the sector with no action taken.

The main reasons for the failure of the country’s SME sector was the lack of finance. He said local banks need to be activated through the leasing system of financing.

He said the country’s lack of stability was also a major factor in their failure.

We have not achieved what we are dreaming of, he concluded.
