Tripoli, 4 June 2017:
An urgently needed transfusion of cash was flown into Khoms today, appropriately enough by an helicopter ambulance.
The LD17 million in new UK-printed banknotes was shipped in by the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) from Tripoli in a Red Crecent Mil Mi-8 helicopter.
The CBL explained that the money was due to be distributed to five banks in the town. It said the consignment would allow all state sector workers to be paid.
This will be of particular importance during Ramadan and with the Eid holiday now coming in sight.
