Tripoli, 7 July 2016:
A bomb has completely wrecked the interior of the new terminal at Bani Walid’s airport.
The main hall, which was still being fitted out, was gutted in the blast which went off at 10am today.
The construction of the airport was cleared in 2014 by Abdullah Al-Thinni when he was still prime minister in Tripoli.
Grandly named Bani Walid International Airport, it had yet to become operational. Because of the Eid holiday, there were no workers on site when the bomb went off. It is unclear who was responsible for the destruction though locals are blaming IS terrorists.
