The Attorney General’s Office reported yesterday that the Criminal Court issued a ruling convicting the mastermind of a gang whose members deliberately trafficked fuel off the coast of the city of Zuwara.
The accused management a group that deliberately smuggled one hundred and five million six hundred and sixty-nine thousand six hundred and forty-six litres of diesel fuel, (105, 669, 646). The fuel was received by foreign ships after the gang leader facilitated entry into Libyan territorial waters.
The Criminal Court ruled in its last session to convict the gang leader. He was sentenced to six years and six months in prison. Obligating him to return one hundred and thirteen million five hundred and forty-nine thousand eight hundred and twenty dinars and three hundred and twenty-one dirhams (LD 113, 549,828). He was deprived of his civil rights for the period of implementation of the sentence and for a period of two years following its implementation.
