The visiting American medical specialists from the NGO Novick Cardiac Alliance has started conducting complex heart operations on children at Zliten Medical Centre.
The team is treating congenital malformations of children and newborns. The operations are conducted in cooperation with national cadres at the and in coordination with Al-Shams Services Medical Company, the Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS) reports.
The scheduled surgical operations will be conducted over a period of three consecutive weeks according to pre-filtered lists of cases coming from various cities in Libya, DSDMS stated.
This is part of the Tripoli Libyan government’s wider policy of localisation of treatment within the country rather than sending patients abroad.
