The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Mustafa Al-Samou, met at his office with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Libya, Abdulfatah Sheikh Abdi Manan, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and follow up on the implementation of joint understandings between the two nations.
Activating Agreement on Cooperation and Joint Coordination
The meeting addressed mechanisms for activating the Agreement on Cooperation and Joint Coordination, as well as following up on the outcomes of a previous official visit—in line with the directives of the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, to support an economic partnership between Libya and Somalia.
Food security as a key area of cooperation
The meeting also highlighted food security as a key area of cooperation, exploring operational mechanisms for importing sheep, camels, and cattle from Somalia to the Libyan market, in compliance with approved health and veterinary requirements and in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Both sides emphasized the importance of streamlining banking and logistical procedures related to trade exchanges, ensuring the stability of supply chains, and fostering an investment and commercial partnership between the two countries.
