The Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) announced today the launch of the final stages of the project to replace approximately 100 kilometres of the 34-inch main pipeline connecting the Sarir Oil Field to the Hariga Oil Terminal in Tobruk (Project Q-87).

AGOCO said this project is in alignment with the National Oil Corporation’s directives to increase production rates and develop infrastructure. It said this milestone marks the culmination of 30 months of sustained and diligent effort.

The completion of this strategic project, it added, follows the successful execution of all engineering and operational tasks, including welding, excavation, hydrostatic testing, and backfilling of the new pipeline.

Last August, technical teams carried out a "hot tapping" operation to connect the new line, ensuring that pumping operations continued without interruption and that production rates remained stable—a testament to the commitment of both the company and the National Oil Corporation to expanding capacity and bolstering crude oil supplies.

AGOCO said every phase of the operation was conducted in accordance with the highest international standards and specifications, most notably API RP 2201, NFPA 51B, and ASME PCC-2. This reflects meticulous planning, professional execution, and a rigorous adherence to safety and technical quality requirements.

In this context, it was announced today, that the "hot tapping" (live connection) process has been fully completed. The pumping of crude oil from the Sarir field through the newly replaced section has officially commenced, with the targeted segment successfully isolated and the new pipeline brought into full service.

AGOCO said this achievement supports the aspirations of the Libyan oil sector and the National Oil Corporation’s strategy to sustain and increase production rates with a high degree of safety and efficiency.
