Tripoli, 31 May 2015:
The continuing General National Congress together with the government it appointed in Tripoli let by . . .[restrict]Khalifa Ghwell, as well as Sadik Al-Ghariani have all condemned the suicide bombing at Misrata’s Dafniya checkpoint in which at least five security officers died. There are reports there the figure could be higher.
The Tripoli interior minister, Mohamed Shaiter, went to Dafniya himself to inspect the site, there describing IS as “cowardly terrorists”. Following his visit, the Tripoli government announced it was planning new moves to fight IS which last week forced Misrata’s 166 Brigade out of its remaining positions in Sirte.
The Ghwell government called on all Libyan soldiers and security forces who backed it to defend the country from IS and on the international community, including the UN, to support it in the struggle. It also called on imams to preach a moderate Islam and demonstrate that it is a tolerant faith.
