A Tebu militant serving with IS has urged his fellow Tebu to acknowledge . . .[restrict]IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and to abandon their support for the government and the armed forces commander General Khalifa Hafter.
In a brief Tebu-language video put out on social media, a man identified as Abu Hamza Al-Tebawey warns Tebu not to fight against IS . If they already had, they should repent of what they had done, otherwise they would be judged and punished.
The majority of Tebu is backing the government against Libya Dawn. Tebu units have been sent to Benghazi to reinforce Dignity forces fighting to oust Ansar fighters and their allies. Some sources have claimed that it was the arrival of Tebu troops that enable pro-government forces last September to secure Benghazi’s Benina Airport and push Ansar forces out f the area.
