Declaring that there must be no territorial split in Libya, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi and King Abdullah of Jordan have agreed the need to support “the legitimate institutions emanating from the will of the Libyan people”, in particular the House of Representatives.
Meeting yesterday in New York on the sidelines of the UN’s 69th General Assembly, the two also agreed that there should be help so that the conflicting Libyan groups could agree a cease-fire which should be followed by a national dialogue involving all the various factions. This had to work for a political solution that addressed the aspirations of all the Libyan people Libya, the Egyptian authorities said.
Both leaders also said there must be no outside interference in Libya. They furthermore called for a commitment by all parties in the country not to supply weapons to extremist groups elsewhere. [/restrict]
