Highlights of the government meeting of 25 April

Tripoli, 30 April:

Trainee pilots and technicians in Canada

In its Ordinary Cabinet meeting of April 25 the government looked into the proposal put . . .[restrict]forward by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) regarding the offer made by the Canadian company ATFA for the training of Libyan pilots and technicians abroad whose application has been accepted.

The MOI has been asked to ensure that the prospective trainees represent all the regions of Libya as well as look into the costs of the training.

Compensation Commission reactivated

The government also reactivated the Compensation Commission which had been established by the former General People’s Committee resolution No. (250) of 2008.

The representative of the former Gaddafi Foundation for Development on the Commission was replaced by a representative of the ‘Association of Damaged by
Property Confiscated by the Former Regime’.

 

Creation of Health Attaches abroad

The need for Health attaches or offices abroad was discussed and it was decided to open in Jordan , Turkey, Germany, Greece, Britain, Ireland, and Egypt.
The Minister of Health was requested to report on the number of offices to be activated and the number of employees needed that will be managed in accordance with the actual needs.

 

Contracts for hospitals approved

The government approved in principle the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) request to contract with suppliers for works on public hospitals on the condition that the MOH refer the price charts for comparison and for approval by the Ministry of Planning and the Deputy Prime Minister.

Committee to consider compensation from Ministry of Oil and Gas

The government also discussed the request to form the Management Committee of the Liquidation Fund of Dissolved Companies and Bodies.

 

Based on the proposal by the Mr. Minister of Oil and Gas for the request to provide financial liquidity necessary to cover damages resulting from the application of
Resolution No. (151) of 1991 on the terms and conditions governing building outside the master plans, the formation of committee was approved to study the requests for payment of compensation as a result of expropriation of private property for public interest.

 

LISCO exempt from paying for wartime fuel

The government decided to approve the exemption of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO) from paying the value of fuel consumed from the Brega Oil Company during the period of liberalization.

 

Food supplied guaranteed for holy Ramadan
The government approved the formation of a committee to ensure the adequate supply of basic food stuffs in time for the holy month of Ramadan

 

International Trade Network

The government gave its initial approval for the request by the Ministry of Economy to create a new administrative body for the International Trade Network. It was decided that full approval will be given after a workshop is held to include the business community and to take into account their inputs
