The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reports that a fifth armed drone has hit another diesel tank (No. 4-4) at Zawia Oil Refinery.
The news comes just as different agencies announced that, after 20 hours of firefighting, the fire at petrol tank (402-T) has been finally extinguished.
In its statement on the latest drone attack the NOC said:
''Attacks on oil assets at the Zawiya Oil Complex are ongoing, specifically targeting fuel tanks belonging to the Zawia Oil Refining Company (Zawia Refinery).
The most recent incident occurred this Tuesday evening, when the roof of diesel tank 4/4 was struck—the fifth such attack—by an explosive-laden drone.
The strike breached the tank and ignited a fire, which emergency and safety teams managed to contain and prevent from spreading.
This fifth attack followed the resumption of refinery operations after a shutdown caused by previous assaults.
The fourth attack had occurred earlier this Tuesday morning, targeting diesel tank 2/4 and causing a fire that emergency and safety teams also successfully contained, preventing it from spreading to adjacent tanks. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Fuel supplies remain unaffected
The NOC reassures citizens that fuel supplies remain unaffected. The process of supplying fuel stations is proceeding according to the usual schedule and mechanism, with daily required quantities being met.
The NOC confirms that fuel stocks are intact and there is no need for overcrowding at gas stations; supply operations will continue without interruption''.
