A Czech delegation led by Petr Hladík, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, accompanied by his delegation, met with the Tripoli based Libyan Foreign Ministry last Monday (29 June).

During the talks, held at the Foreign Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and explored prospects for expanding cooperation across a wide range of fields of mutual interest, with a view to enhancing the bilateral partnership and advancing their shared interests.

Enhancing economic and investment cooperation
The discussions also addressed opportunities to enhance economic and investment cooperation, underscoring the importance of encouraging private-sector engagement and promoting exchanges between business communities in both countries, thereby creating broader prospects for cooperation in the fields of development and reconstruction.

Reopening of Czech embassy in Tripoli
The two sides further discussed the possibility of the Embassy of the Czech Republic resuming its operations from Tripoli, reflecting the positive development of bilateral relations and contributing to enhanced communication and coordination between the two countries.

Return of Czech companies
The meeting also highlighted the importance of encouraging Czech companies to resume their activities in Libya and to participate in implementing development projects, particularly under the “Return to Life” initiative launched by the Government of National Unity, which offers promising opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure, public services, and development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining consultation and coordination and to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries and supports stability and sustainable development.
